Winter Weather

Ah, the North. I love the faster pace, but I could do without the lack of Waffle House’s and the snow. I’m at home for the weekend right now and we have about 2 feet of snow. That’s about the most I’ve seen in the past 5 years. I spent most of last winter down south and avoided most of the snow and I saw a lot of slick sidewalks, but not a huge amount of snow at college.

I like the show when I can sit inside, under a blanket, and watch it fall. One of my least favorite winter activities is downhill skiing followed closely by being outside in general, but my ultimate least favorite winter activity is driving. I know it’s cliched, but I really hate it. I’m a great driver, but a little bit of white stuff on the road could cause my insurance to go up forever. I’m ready for May.

But on to the real info:
The second half of the tour is well underway. I’ve only been back to work a week, but we’ve already had 2 shows and a school assembly. Our first show back was last Sunday in Plymouth, Michigan at NorthRidge Church. Getting there was the toughest part of the whole show! It snowed the entire trip there on Saturday and between Pittsburgh and my host home, we passed 20 cars in the ditch including a jack-knifed tractor trailer. We were blessed to get there slowly, but safely!

I visited NorthRidge last year when we were in the Detroit area for another show. It is impressive to say the least! They have an auditorium that seats 3,000 and the most impressive set and tech that I’ve seen in any church. I also stayed with an awesome host family so here is a shout out to the Van Der Walde’s! I miss you guys!

Here are the numbers from that show:
1826 people attending
866 rings
117 commitments

This was the biggest show we have ever done in America! Praise God for all of the people that were reached.

We returned to Pittsburgh on Monday and I left Wednesday for a school assembly in Williamsport, PA. I was there to promote a show coming up next Sunday. Due to a 2 hour delay there were less than 200 students at the assembly, but I still think we had a good time. We typically do public school assemblies for hundreds of students and spend most of our time trying to talk over students who are excited to be out of class. This assembly was for Christian schools and we had a hard time getting the students excited. Typically when we ask a question the only answer required is a scream. However, at this assembly every time we asked a question the crowed raised their hands! Once we broke that habit things went much better.

We did another show on Friday in negative temperatures. This one near Pittsburgh. I don’t have the exact numbers from that show, but we had a packed house. Nearly every seat was full and people were sitting in the aisles!

Next on the list: 2 shows in West Virginia this week before the Williamsport show next Sunday. After that, I’m off to Florida!

One last thing- Here we go STEELERS!!!!!!
