My very first cruise was in October 2009 to Bermuda. I was 24 years old and I had just begun working on Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Seas. I was scared. Everything was new and life was overwhelming.
But then we arrived in Bermuda. The pastel homes met the brilliant blue of the sea. I had never seen anything like it. I felt like I was living in a carton of dyed Easter eggs. My new friends from the ship invited me to join them at Horseshoe Bay where the sand was colored pink in the sun. Now everything was new and different, but exciting! My first trip to Bermuda made me realize how much of the world I had yet to see.
Before I could see the rest of the world, I needed to explore this captivating collection of islands off the coast of North Carolina. I visited churches, lighthouses, beaches, parks, gardens, and caves during several visits throughout the next two years. I mastered the bus and ferry system and even hitchhiked between islands. Bermuda enthralled me, like it does to all of its visitors.
Sea More: Bermuda
Bermuda is a popular cruise destination and since I, as a crew member, called on Bermuda more than the average cruiser, I wanted to create a resource for cruise passengers based on my experiences. I’ve condensed my days of exploring the islands into an ebook, “Sea More: Bermuda.” For a limited time, it’s my gift to you.
