I’ve moved into my permanent cabin. I’ve worked two cruises on my own. I’ve visited two new places. And now I only have two cruises left down here before I head for Europe.
Everyone onboard is very excited for Europe. A lot of these crew members were on this ship during their last European season. Everyone has been telling me how amazing the food is and how great the tours are as well. I’ve decided that I should probably start working out now in preparation for the amount of food I will consume in Italy alone!
I’m trying to become a little more dedicated and focus during my time here. When you work on ships most people sleep and drink as much as they can…it’s easy to become lazy. So I’ve started getting up earlier than I need to to do some reading and try to exercise and challenge my brain a bit. I always want to leave the contract better than when I came. I also wanted to start working out more, so I took the Fit Test for Insanity. If I couldn’t walk the next day, did I fail the test?
Time has been going fast so far and I hope it keeps it up- especially on the 7 consecutive days at sea that lay between me and Europe.
So I mentioned the Dreamworks characters in my last post. Some members of the Dreamworks team told me an awesome story last night:
The characters frequently go out in certain areas of the ship to meet the guests and pose for photos. Last cruise while Puss in Boots was out and about, a little boy told Puss that he wanted to “skin him so he could take his skin home and sleep in because it was so soft.” Wow. Creepy. The kid must have then realized how truly disturbing that statement was (Then realized? Why then? He actually need to say it to realize that?!) so he tried to backpedal and finally said he would just shave Puss instead. Nice. Well played small child…thanks for offering to skin a beloved children’s character.
Sadly that is the most exciting story I have for you. I haven’t been on any grand adventures- I wanted to go on a tour in Belize yesterday, but since this is a Spring Break cruise the tours were full. Sad. This was only my second and probably my last time to Belize. I hear they have a magnificent reef structure there- the second largest barrier reef in the world. Second only to the Great Barrier Reef of course. However I never had time to go check it out. I did discover that Belize is HOT. A colleague of mine describes Belize as “Hell, except blue.” It’s that hot. It’s also oddly flat. Most islands and places we visit are very mountainous, but I didn’t see any mountains there….it was kind of weird. For that reason, another colleague of mine describes it as the edge of the world.
Thanks for reading…sorry I’m still boring.
