I’m working on my Spanish. I’ve realized that this is the perfect time to dust off all of the Spanish I learned in high school but pushed to the corners of my brain as soon as my three year college requirement was fulfilled. I always think I’m getting better at it until a guest comes up to me speaking Spanish a mile a minute and I stare back blankly, smile politely, and look around for a Spanish speaking crew member.
With a home port of San Juan I am forced to improve my Spanish reading abilities as well as my speaking abilities. In CVS I scanned my Extra Care Card inside the door and got a coupon that said “Gratis Air Delight.” I asked my friend what he thought it said and he reasoned that “Air Delight” was probably an air freshener of some kind so I probably got a discount on that. I agreed with the air freshener part, but I was pretty sure that “Gratis” meant “free.” So I was hoping for a free air freshener. I found an employee and asked her what the coupon said. She told me I got a free candy bar. Apparently “Air Delight” is a new candy bar from Hershey. So I guess my Spanish is serving me well, but it’s my English that needs work.
